How To Order What Are They Saying What's It About It

The story so far...

Three hundred years have passed since the exodus and Aiden is forced to roam the earth cheating and stealing among the lowest forms of creatures he knows, the humans. He has no one to blame but himself. For a thousand years the place and date of the Exodus has been taught to every elf in society. Unfortunately, another three day drinking binge left Aiden passed out in an alley, oblivious and left behind. The Exodus was the result of a war between two gods, Kilmanagh and his evil sister Dunath. To protect his people, Kilmanagh created the new world for them to escape to out of the reach of Dunath and her evil minions, creatures so hideous in appearances and disposition that they have now come to be known simply as her children. Enter Kyle and Vespa, two humans in need of Aiden’s help who eventually cross paths with him while he is down on his luck. He is unwilling to help them until they produce a Gatekeepers stone of their own. Realizing the possibility was real that he could cross over to the new world and join the rest of his people, he agrees to help them search for the other two stones. Dunath, however has other plans and sends her children to destroy them and retrieve the stones for herself. Their quest takes them across most of the world as they know it as well as parts that have never before been seen by humans. Along the way they will encounter many strange things and people like Talon Gall, who was brought back from the dead by the shamans to help Aiden in his quest, but no one knows why. They must overcome many obstacles, such as: ambushes by Dunath’s Children and their Khularang, bar fights, and the mysterious bag of coins that Talon holds. There is the mystery of the church at Tinnehinch - who built it and why? What is the true secret of the cargo of the caravan they have been hired to protect? And most important of all, how will the band of unlikely heroes be able to kill the banshee that is hunting them down?

What are people saying about this book?

Heidi L Hartig from Benicia, CA
I originally purchased this book for my 13 year old son to read. I ended up reading it first and could not put it down. My son then read The Dying Breed after me. Same thing; he couldn't put it down. Then my father became interested in reading the book after listening to my son and I repeatedly discussing different chapters and characters from the book. It became quite fun to sit around and have family conversations about the same book that we had all read. That lead to my mother reading it. This book is a true dedication of writing to the author when three generations can read the same book and find it as interesting and entertaining as we did

Wow! What a great first book!
As a long time Tolkien fan, I'm hard to impress but James has done the job! An easy read, yet complex characters and a new vision of Irish fantasy made the book fascinating. I read it cover to cover the day I got it. It was well worth taking the time to order it. I can hardly wait for the next book in the trilogy. Barnes & Noble needs to keep a few copies in the store all the time. I would highly recommend this book to any fantasy fan.

I purchased this book because I love anything to do with Irish legend's I expected this book to be about the usual leprechaun's and fairies, imagine my surprise when there was the most delightful character's I have ever come across, totally believable and a great sense of humor, the person who wrote this is a wonderful story teller. I do hope you have more book's from this author, as I am looking forward to another great story. I guarantee once you start this you will find your self unable to put it down, as the character's really pull you in. Thanks for the great read. A VERY AVID READER Calif. USA

Emily from Nebraska writes
"Couldn't put it down - the author's sense of humor really came through in his writing and made the adventure even more enjoyable. The storytelling was wonderful and left me eager to read the next installment! "

Lindsey from California writes
"WOW" it's been a good while since I have read a book that created a fantasy setting that was so alive. The characters are so believable. The author has crafted a very creative imaginative world. I highly recommend reading this if you are a lover of good and unique fantasy.

Words come to life.
As a former coworker of Mr. Pasch's, I may be a little biased toward this book, but I thought it was an incredibly good book for a first-time writer. The main character, Aidan, in my mind greatly resembles the author himself. I was very lucky to be in the vicinity when he was brainstorming the ideas for this book and that he cared to discuss them with me. I hope I helped in some small part. It's not hard to imagine the Ireland the author describes and it even makes you forget how the world is supposed to be in real life. Just imagine Aidan the elf writing this novel sitting at a laptop in an office building, staring out a sixteenth story window. That may not help your enjoyment of The Dying Breed, but it's an enjoyable exercise. I look forward to reading the subsequent installment in the series.
